Welcome to KittyCatRescue
At KittyCatRescue in Cottondale, Florida, we believe every cat deserves a life of safety, dignity, and freedom. Our family started this rescue over 25 years ago, driven by a deep love for vulnerable felines. Today, our family manages a specialized sanctuary featuring a secure, 5-acre freedom pen that serves as a permanent, cage-free haven for over 100 abandoned and feral cats. Within this protected space, our residents live safely in captivity but roam entirely free, fully shielded by a large perimeter fence designed to keep out snakes and predators.
We proudly self-fund all of our rescue work through the sales and revenue of our family business, Stop2Shop. Because of this stable support, cats who have been left behind or cannot be traditionally rehomed find a lifetime of quality medical care, nourishing food, and the space to roam peacefully in the Florida sunshine. We are dedicated to rewriting the stories of vulnerable felines, one acre and one paw at a time.
Vet Care & Medical Needs
Managing a large sanctuary means looking after the health and unique medical needs of over 100 cats. Many of our residents arrived as feral or senior cats requiring immediate and ongoing veterinary attention. We provide continuous veterinary monitoring to keep our sanctuary population healthy, which includes:
- Spay & Neuter: Ensuring all residents are altered to maintain a controlled, peaceful environment.
- Vaccinations & Preventatives: Administering routine shots, flea control, and tick prevention to protect against outdoor elements.
- Specialized Care: Managing age-related conditions, dental needs, and chronic illnesses for our senior residents through specialized diets and daily medications.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Are you open to the public for visits or tours?
Because our 5-acre freedom pen is a true sanctuary designed for feral and formerly abandoned cats, it is not set up like a traditional shelter. Many of our residents are timid or fearful of strangers, so we keep the sanctuary closed to the general public to maintain a stress-free environment for them.
Can I adopt one of the cats from the sanctuary?
The cats living at KittyCatRescue are permanent sanctuary residents. Most are feral or have behavioral or medical needs that make traditional home placement difficult. Our 5-acre pen is their forever home where they can live out their lives in peace.
Are you currently accepting new cat surrenders or rescues?
To ensure our 100+ current residents receive the highest standard of care, medical attention, and space, our sanctuary operates at a strict maximum capacity. We are currently unable to accept new intakes, surrenders, or stray cats.
Are donations to KittyCatRescue tax-deductible?
No. We are not a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our family business fully funds our entire facility and its daily operations. However, because so many generous people have asked to help, we created registries for item donations. While these gifts are not tax-deductible, every single shipped item goes directly toward feeding and comforting a cat in need.
How You Can Help

Please note that because we are fully funded through our business and family, we are not a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so gifts are not tax-deductible, but every single item goes directly to making a cat's life better!
